College transfer credits are determined by the receiving institution. Each institution is responsible for determining its own policies and practices with regard to the transfer and award of credit. In order to appeal the results of a transfer credit evaluation, students must contact our Registrar's Office.

Please see page 37 of the Degree Course Catalog for information regarding inter-institutional transfer of credit.

Credit-by-Examination

The institution may award credit-by-examination upon consideration of scores from the following standardized examinations:

  • Chauncey Group International - DSST Program (formerly DANTES Subject Standardized Tests)
  • College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)*
  • Excelsior College Exams (formerly ACT-PEP, formerly Regents College Exams)
  • College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Program
  • Relevant NCCA-accredited or ISSA LLC personal training certifications, upon passing a proctored competency exam with a 75% or higher (must correlate to Lionel curriculum; BS degree: max of 4, AS degree: max of 2, Master Trainer certificate: max of 1 )

Students must provide the institution with standardized examination results in the form of an official Score Report or Transcript. Award of academic credit toward the degree program is assessed on the basis of test scores and the appropriate subject area. The institution will award transfer credit for exams that are associated with the current Lionel University program curriculum - a maximum of 15 quarter credits will be awarded as credit-by-examination. The American Council on Education's "minimum score for awarding credit" is accepted as a reliable measure of college-level competence in introductory course content.

  • Our school's CLEP code is: 4898
  • Our school's College Board code is: 7682

We will need to receive an official score report directly from the testing organization in order to award credit-by-examination.

Official score reports should be sent by:

Foreign Transcript Evaluation

Transcripts for comparable courses completed in a country other than the United States must be evaluated by an outside credential evaluation company before they are submitted to the institutuion. The National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) members are acceptable sources for foreign credential evaluation and translation services.

The list of NACES members can be found here: http://www.naces.org/members.htm

The type of evaluation that we will need to receive is a "Course-by-Course" evaluation, which shows course subjects, titles, grades, and credits, along with US credit and grade equivalents for each of your courses. Most of the NACES members call this type of evaluation a "Course-by-Course" evaluation or will mention conducting a "course-by-course" analysis in the description of the evaluation.

Course-by-Course Credential Evaluation Results should be sent by:
