Welcome to The Training Room: Real Answers for Fitness Pros (and a Few Laughs) There’s a lot of fitness content out there. Some of it is great. Some of it is… loud. And if you’re a coach, trainer, manager, educator—or anyone working in health and fitness—you’ve probably felt that tension: **so much information, so little clarity. That’s exactly why we’re launching *The Training Room*—a podcast designed to cut through the noise and bring the conversation back to what matters. Not with lectures. Not with textbook language. But with real talk, real experience, and evidence-based practice you can actually use. Why The Training Room Exists Fitness professionals are navigating an industry that changes fast—and not always for the better. Social media has become the loudest “teacher” in the room. It can be an incredible source of ideas and exposure, but it can also blur the line between what’s useful and what’s simply trending. That makes it harder for professionals to sift through the noise, stay grounded in what works, and confidently guide clients and communities. We’re seeing constant waves of: * diet culture packaged as “wellness” * influencer-driven training advice without context * hype cycles around longevity, “biohacking,” and quick fixes * overly complicated programs designed to look cool, not work well The result? Noise. Confusion. Imposter syndrome. And a lot of smart professionals doing their best to serve people while trying to keep up. The Training Room exists to help solve that—by creating a space that’s clear, evidence-based, and human. So… What Is The Training Room? To us, The Training Room is a place to do two things really well: 1) Learn This podcast is built around evidence-based practice—the kind of education that helps you coach better, think clearer, and make decisions you can stand behind. But it’s not about being academic for the sake of being academic. It’s about translating high-level science into actionable, practical, real-world information you can use immediately. 2) Laugh Let’s be honest: the work matters, but the industry is full of moments that are hilarious, awkward, unexpected, and sometimes absurd. We want this to feel like the conversations you actually have with trusted peers—the ones where you learn something valuable, then laugh because… yeah, we’ve all seen that. What Excites Us Most About This Podcast We’re not launching *The Training Room* because we want to add to the noise. We’re launching it because we want to build something different. --- Meet Your Hosts We kept introductions intentionally human—because titles aren’t the point. The work is. Dr. Erin Nitschke Co-host of The Training Room and—unofficially but confidently—the #1 fitness professional from Wyoming, mostly because there aren’t a lot of fitness pros there… and somebody has to hold the title. John Bauer Co-host of The Training Room, brought to you by Lionel University. John has been in the industry “since the 1900s,” with experience as a trainer, educator, and manager. Also: yes, he once did pushups with Justin Bieber—the other JB. What You Can Expect From The Training Room This show will be built around: * conversations that translate research into coaching * honest discussions about trends, confusion, and industry realities * interviews with educators and leaders doing meaningful work * practical takeaways without the fluff * enough laughter to make learning feel lighter Because at the end of the day, we’re here for the same reason you are: To get better at what we do—and help others do the same.
