Students are expected to have access to the technology requirements as Lionel University is not obligated to supply the needed technologies including software and hardware. If a student does not have word processing software, www.OpenOffice.org offers free, fully functional software for download. The following chart lists the minimum and recommended hardware and software requirements a student will need to successfully access Lionel’s online courses.

Computer Specifications
For best performance, access Canvas LMS with a computer that supports the most recent browser versions. It is recommended to use a computer five years old or newer with at least 1GB of RAM.

Operating System
Canvas LMS requires an operating system that can run the latest compatible web browsers. Your computer operating system should be kept up to date with the latest recommended security updates and upgrades.

Internet Speed
Along with compatibility and web standards, Canvas LMS has been carefully crafted to accommodate low bandwidth environments it is recommended to have a minimum Internet speed of 512kbps.

Supported Browsers
Instructure products support the current and previous major releases of the following browsers:
• Chrome 107 and 108
• Firefox 107 and 108 (Extended Releases are not supported*)
• Edge 107 and 108
• Respondus Lockdown Browser (supporting the latest system requirements)
• Safari 15 and 16 (Macintosh only)

Mobile Devices
Canvas LMS is optimized for desktop displays. However, if you are using a mobile device, you can access Canvas LMS using a mobile application (app) or mobile browser.

Mobile Browsers
Visit the Apple store or the Play store to download mobile browsers. The following major browsers are compatible with mobile devices:
