How To Apply

Our scholarship application process is simple. Just follow these steps:

Ensure your eligibility

  • Before applying for the scholarship, ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements, which are detailed in the scholarship criteria and eligibility requirements below.

Apply to Lionel University

  • If you are not already a student at Lionel University, apply to the university by completing our online application. Only new and returning Lionel University students in the first quarter of their Master's degree will be considered for this scholarship. 
  • Note: Students must begin the admissions application prior to completing the scholarship application.

Complete your scholarship application.

  • Fully review the scholarship details and eligibility requirements below. If you believe that you are eligible, complete the scholarship application on or before the September 17, 2023 deadline.

Enroll in Classes

  • This scholarship is only available for students who are beginning Lionel University's Master of Science in Exercise Science program in Fall Quarter 2023. Students must begin their first course between October 2, 2023 and October 6, 2023.

Application Deadline

The Scholarship application will open on July 25, 2023, and will close by 11:59 pm MST on September 17, 2023. The scholarship application can be found here. Scholarship applications not submitted or submitted after the application deadline will not be considered. No exceptions.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a U.S. resident
  • Be a new student of Lionel University’s Master of Science in Exercise Science degree program
  • Applicants must not be an employee (including full- and part-time faculty) or a family member (spouse, dependent child, or domestic partner) of an employee of Lionel University or any other affiliate of Lionel University.
  • Have applied to Lionel’s Master of Science in Exercise Science degree program
  • Complete the scholarship application prior to September 17, 2023 (11:59 pm PST)

*The completion of the application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to the applicant.

Requirements

  • Maintain 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Post attendance in first master’s degree program course between October 2, 2023, and October 6, 2023
  • Maintain continuous enrollment in the Master of Science in Exercise Science degree program
  • Abide by Student Conduct and Academic Honesty policies

Selection Process

  1. The recipients of the scholarships will be selected by Lionel University.

  2. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit a complete and signed application, with any required and supporting documentation, which must be received on or before the deadline. Lionel University accepts no responsibility for incomplete applications, applications not in proper form, lost applications, or any other submission in exception to the instructions.

  3. Scholarship selection shall be made without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other category protected by federal, state, or local law.

  4. The decision of Lionel University is final and not subject to review.

  5. On September 18, 2023, Lionel University will begin the selection process from eligible, qualified applicants.

Award Benefits

  1. The Scholarship award is $277 per course beginning with your first attended course and thereafter for those continuously attended courses in your master’s degree program until one of the following “Terminating Events” occurs: (i) two years from the first date of attendance in your first course, or (ii) upon graduation from your degree program, or (iii) upon receipt of $2,500 which is the maximum award available under the Scholarship, whichever comes first, or (iv) upon not passing course, or (v) breaking of continuous enrollment in the program.

  2. Only the applicants selected as Scholarship recipients will be notified by Lionel University.

  3. Recipients will be notified no later than September 27, 2023.

  4. Scholarship benefits are awarded in the form of a tuition discount, and will be immediately applied to award recipients' accounts provided that they are currently enrolled in their initial course.

  5. The Scholarship is subject to the Lionel University Terms and Conditions. See below.

Scholarship Terms & Conditions

By applying for a Lionel University scholarship and/or accepting the scholarship award, the applicant and/or recipient agree to the following terms and conditions. Failure to abide by any of the following terms and conditions shall result in either disqualification of the scholarship award or termination of the scholarship award.

  1. All application submissions shall become the property of Lionel University, regardless of whether the applicant is awarded the scholarship. In addition, the applicant agrees to execute a Lionel University Consent and Release Form and further agrees that Lionel University and its affiliates may release the application and the information contained therein to its agents, contractors, and related third parties for the purposes set forth below.

Upon the submission of the application by the applicant or the award of the scholarship and the recipient's acceptance, Lionel University, including its affiliates as well as its agents, and others working for it on its behalf or at its direction and their respective licensees, successors, and assigns, shall have the right to use and republish the submitted application or any of its content; it may reference and acknowledge the recipient's name and authorship of the application; and may use the recipient's name, image, and likeness for any purpose relating to the scholarship, including but not limited to, any promotional materials, internal sites, www.lionel.edu, external company sites, press releases, and social media.

  1. The scholarship award is a non-cash award to the recipient's Lionel University account, as outlined on the scholarship application. The scholarship will be applied to the first credit-bearing class with a start date after the award date. No scholarship funds will be applied to previous classes or currently enrolled classes at the time of the scholarship award. No check or other cash monies will be disbursed at any time. No exceptions.

Lionel University treats this tuition scholarship, in the form of a non-cash award, as non-taxable income. However, the recipient is encouraged to seek independent counsel from a certified tax consultant as the recipient is responsible for all other costs, liabilities, and obligations, including any applicable taxes from the award of this scholarship, as Federal laws may change and laws vary from state to state. Lionel University makes no representations with respect to the taxability of this award, and Lionel University may change its treatment of the scholarship for tax purposes in its sole discretion.

  1. This Scholarship may not be combined with any other Lionel University scholarship, offer, memorandum of understanding, or tuition scholarship(s).
  2. Recipients remain responsible for the repayment of all Federal Direct Loans borrowed for the program or any other program they have enrolled in and/or attended and are subject to the repayment terms and conditions set forth in the Master Promissory Note (MPN) executed with the U.S. Department of Education.
  3. This Scholarship is not applicable and will not be issued to:
    1. Applicants who enroll in a Lionel University degree level or program other than what is specifically outlined in the Application's Eligibility Criteria for the scholarship.
    2. Applicants pursuing stand-alone Lionel University courses.
    3. Applicants pursuing a stand-alone Lionel University certificate.
    4. Applicants enrolling in a Competency-Based Education program.
    5. Applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements.
    6. Cover costs for credits earned outside of Lionel University.
    7. Students who enroll and start their first course before the application deadline date or prior to the scholarship window.
  4. The Scholarship will automatically terminate if:
    1. The applicant fails to meet the eligibility requirements.
    2. The recipient is academically disqualified, disqualified for admission, scholastically disqualified, scholastically suspended, or expelled as outlined in the University Catalog.
    3. The recipient is out of attendance on an unapproved leave of absence. The recipient must be enrolled at Lionel University and maintain continuous attendance or qualify for a leave of absence, to remain eligible for the scholarship.
    4. Recipient completes their degree program for which the scholarship was awarded and specified in the Application’s Eligibility Criteria.
    5. Receives the maximum scholarship award
    6. 730 days after the recipient's first course.
  5. If the recipient receives Title IV financial aid funding, the scholarship may reduce its eligibility for such funding in compliance with Title IV regulations. The recipient must also adhere to all state and federal financial aid policies and procedures, as well as all Lionel University financial policies and procedures as set forth in the Lionel University Academic Catalog, including remaining in good financial standing.
  6. The recipient will forfeit the scholarship if they fall out of attendance. Upon returning from an approved absence, the recipient will be subject to program updates as outlined in the Lionel University Academic Catalog.
  7. The scholarship cannot be refunded if the recipient drops, receives a W-grade, or otherwise fails to complete a course for which the scholarship, or a portion of the scholarship, has been used to pay the tuition.
  8. The recipient must notify Lionel University immediately if they are convicted of a crime (excluding traffic offenses), as said conviction may impact the scholarship at the discretion of Lionel University.
  9. The recipient must not portray Lionel University or any affiliates in a negative, harmful, disparaging, offensive, or inappropriate manner, as determined in Lionel University’s sole discretion. Additionally, the recipient must not associate Lionel University or any affiliates with content related to tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs, or sexually explicit material, or engage in conduct that is immoral or illegal and results in a criminal conviction.
  10. The recipient must abide by the Lionel University Academic Catalog, including the Student Code of Conduct.
  11. These terms and conditions are in addition to any other terms and conditions set forth in any other part of this document. Any necessary determination or clarification as to the interpretation or application of a particular term shall be made by Lionel University in its sole discretion. Lionel University reserves the right to make any changes or modifications to the scholarship, including but not limited to the criteria, selection process, deadline dates, and terms and conditions, at its sole discretion.
  12. There will be no exceptions to these terms and conditions unless otherwise approved in writing by Lionel University in its sole discretion.
  13. Violation of these scholarship terms and conditions, as determined in Lionel University’s sole discretion, will result in disqualification or termination of the scholarship award. The recipient acknowledges and agrees that they shall have no right to appeal or contest the decision of Lionel University to terminate the scholarship. Any unused portion of the scholarship will be returned to Lionel University and is non-transferable.
  14. If any provision of these scholarship terms and conditions is held void, voidable, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
